Stars of Casino Opera is the 5th album of Raks Sharki (Oriental Dance) produced by Jalilah for Piranha Music. This album is a tribute to Samia Gamal and Tahia Cairoca, two doyennes of the middle eastern dance who have witnessed every stage of its evolution from the days of the famous Cairo club to the glamorous heyday of Egyptian cinema. This Piranha cd recorded in Beirut features a selection of songs specially written for Samia Gamal and Tahia Cairoca by composers of the magnitude of Mohamed Abdel Wahab or Farid El Atrache. Although particularly aimed at dancers of Raks Sharki, these recording will also bewitch anybody who appreciates the joyful and vibrant, langorous sounds of oriental music.
