Beschreibung

Silvia Torres is a new discovery in the Brazilian music scene. She was born and raised in Salvador, the capital of the state of Bahia. It is a region where African culture predominates and the music reflects this influence. Torres toured as a backup singer for Gilberto Gil on an international tour and has participated as a singer for the Bahia Carnaval. She also sang in the group Acordes Verdes with two well-known artists from Bahia, Luis Caldas and Carlinhos Brown. 'Take Saravá' is a phrase of African origin used in the Brazilian Northeast, especially in the state of Bahia. It is an exclamation used in macumba, a syncretic religion that blends elements of African and Catholic beliefs. The words to the song 'Take Saravá' are surreal and poetic, with references to the landscape of Bahia and the need to dream. 'Got to be good looking. Got to give the soul some coloring. Take saravá and recite poems. You have to be this way brother, because since you were a kid you wandered to a place beyond this ballad. Dreams and dreams of tin. We deserved the kisses. Beside the junkyard. Don't think that everything is a dream. Swindled pirate. From the quagmire. It's enough to hear the guitar. To have a road to walk on. Illusions to dream.'
