multicult.fm brings fresh wind into the Berlin-Brandenburg airwaves. On the occasion of its fm broadcasting debut, the young radio invites you to a foray through Berlin, the gateway to Eastern Europe, the metropolis of the Turkish diaspora, the capital of European tango: with new and unreleased songs, remixes and rarities that mirror recent developments across all musical genres. African hiphop meets oriental funk, German language dancehall encounters reggae with French lyrics, a world-class balafon virtuoso accompanies a soul voice that will leave you speechless. There are spoken word lyrics, polka missionaries, authentic balkan speed brass, a 17 piece calypso orchestra and countless patchwork projects that would hardly be imaginable elsewhere. The first edition of this compilation is a gift of the artists to a radio that sees itself as a platform for international “highbrow” and pop culture, speaking on behalf of a scene that has been trendsetting and impulse generating for years, that has become an export item and a trademark as well as the motor of a cultural life with magnetic appeal to visitors from all over Germany and abroad. The active participation of the artists reflects how much they value this radio. An 80 strong team of international journalists feels obliged to them.
